Due to the recent poor weather we have been unable to play all our fixtures. However our first season in 11 a-side football has been quite eventfull. The players of Moston Juniors B are learning to play as a team and are developing their awareness of positional play. They have coped well with the new management team and with an influx of new players .They continue to work on their basic skills .At the beginning of the season the team got off to a flying start. They were defeated in the first match to the established Stalybridge Celtic. Then won four consequetive matches but unfortunatly a series of defeats seemed to affect the confidence of the players. However the squad persevered and worked hard and have regained their confidence after three wins. The last match against Clayton Villa was quite an emphatic win, but more importantly was the quality of the football the team played. They demonstrated some very good two touch moves that resulted in some fine goals which was very encouraging .
The squad appear to be begining to settle into the format of 11 a side football. The players are begining to have confidence in each other and the squad is now bonding together. It is hoped the progress coninues over the second part of the season.
Leading goal scorer Drew Mc Cormack and Captain Tim Mofatt have both been selected for the Tameside Under 11`s interleague squad(16).The first match is on Sunday January 27th 10.30. a.m. against Timpereley at Dunkinfield. Both players deserve this reward for their commitmment to the team and their performances on the pitch this season.
Finally we would like to thank the parents who turn out each week in all kinds of adverse weather conditions to support their child and the team.We would hope the team continues to go from strength to strength.
